Running Mobile Experiments on your iPhone and iPad using the Paradigm for Mobile app

1. Create a Dropbox account to use with Paradigm Mobile
Your experiments are made available to the Paradigm for Mobile app by connecting it to a designated experiments folder in your Dropbox. The app's Dropbox integration requires that you give out a Dropbox username and password to your participants. As such, you are probably not going to want to give out your personal Dropbox login so we recommend you create a Dropbox account just to use with Paradigm for Mobile.
2. Install the Paradigm for Mobile App and connect it to your Dropbox folder
On your moble device, go to the Paradigm for Mobile App Store Page and install it. Start the app and log in to your Dropbox account, this will create a "Apps/Paradigm Mobile" folder in your Dropbox and link the app to it. You will upload your mobile experiments to this folder from your desktop computer.
3. Add a Send Results event to your experiment (optional)
Paradigm's Send Results system enables the secure collection of participant data files via e-mail. At the completion of your experiment Paradigm for Mobile will send each data file to the e-mail address you've specified in the "Send Results" event of your experiment. Note: Experiment's that do not contain a Send Results event will upload data files back to Dropbox. Storing subject data on Dropbox may not be permitted by your IRB in which case we offer Send Results as a secure alternative.


4. Upload your mobile experiments
On your desktop computer, log in into your Dropbox account and upload your experiments to the "Apps/Paradigm Mobile" Dropbox folder. Paradigm comes with a number of sample mobile experiments (located in the Paradigm Samples/Mobile Experiments folder). You can upload one of the samples just to check that everything has been setup correctly.
Experiment files are synced before each run allowing you to update your experiments remotely. Just add the updated experiment to your Dropbox folder and it will automatically be synced across all your instances of Paradigm Mobile.
5. Run your experiment
On your mobile device click the "Refresh" button and make sure all your uploaded experiments are listed. To run an experiment select it from the list. To run a study remotely, instruct your participants to download the Paradigm for Mobile app to their iOS device and connect to your "Paradigm Mobile" folder using the Dropbox login. After the experiment is completed, the participant's results file will be uploaded to the experiment's "Subject Data" folder on your Dropbox or sent to the e-mail address you specified in your experiment's Send Results event.
