Create Awesome Experiments
Build your experiments using a drag-and-drop designer
interface similiar to PowerPoint. With Paradigm you can:
- Present images, text, movies, sounds, self-paced reading trials, and feedback with millisecond accuracy
- Collect accurate reaction times with a Button Box (Cedrus or E-Prime®), Joystick, Microphone, Keyboard or Mouse.
Record microphone voice samples as separate .wav files
- Use Paradigm's built-in "mouse click detection" to enable subjects to select visual stimuli with
a mouse pointer, ideal for Rating scales and Visual World experiments. You'll never have to do your "hit-testing" in
script again.
- Distribute your experiments with Paradigm Player
without purchasing additional licenses
- Support for international fonts (Kanji, Cyrillic, Hebrew and more...)
- Rich documentation and support. Paradigm includes more than 20 sample experiments.

Flexible Stimuli and Trial Presentation
Paradigm's
Trial Table lets you use a spreadsheet-like interface to specify "per-trial" data like stimuli, correct responses, trial identifiers and more. With Trial Tables you can:
- Present trials in sequential or random order.
- Use "subtables" to present randomized and non-randomized stimuli within the same block.
- Create "multi-sequence" blocks to present mixed trial types within the same block. For example, mixed experimental and rest trials in an fMRI experiment.
- Find, preview and add stimuli to your experiment using the "Stimulus Finder". Added stimuli are automatically copied to your experiment's folder, making it easy to move your experiment.
- Copy and paste data from Microsoft Excel©
Integrated Python Scripting
Python scripting gives you the flexibility to build any experiment. You can execute Python script at any point during your
experiment using Paradigm's "Scipting Event". Paradigm's Python scripting includes:
- A fully-featured Python 2.6 scripting engine. You'll have access to all the standard Python features and data
structures. It's the "real" Python language.
- Access and modify event properties and trial table data using Paradigm's scripting interface. Jump to any
point in your experiment using Paradigm's "Jump To" commands.
- Access to Windows' Win32 API and third-party DLLs using the
"Python for Windows Extensions" package which is part of the
default Paradigm installation.
- Import third party libraries such as RPy for performing "online" statistics
during an experiment using the R statistics package.

Collect Better Data
Paradigm gives you millisecond accurate stimulus presentation and response times on Windows XP, Vista and 7. You can log any aspect of your experiment including event onsets, onset errors, reaction times and stimuli identifiers.
- Millisecond accurate stimulus presentation and creation times "by default". Timing has been verified using the Black Box Toolkit
- Specify experiment runtime priority for increased stimulus presentation accuracy.
- Specify response device priorities for accurate reaction time measurement.
- Logged data are exported to Microsoft Excel© by default.
fMRI Integration
Paradigm lets you detect triggers from your fMRI scanner on Parallel, Serial or USB ports.
- Detect Serial and Parallel Port triggers with one click using Paradigm's Port events.
- Detect triggers from USB ports - including keyboard trigger characters - using any Paradigm event.
- Compatible with a wide variety of fMRI safe response pads and trigger cables

Drag and Drop ASL Eye Tracker Integration
Our
Paradigm Elements for ASL lets you integrate your experiments with an ASL Eye Tracker without writing script or an understanding of low-level port communication.
- Mark events and responses in your recorded eye data will millisecond accuracy.
- Measure gaze durations in multiple AOIs.
- Wait for gazes of minimum duration in multiple AOIs.
- Ignores gazes below a minimum duration.
- Calibrate subjects from within your experiments.
- Take screenshots of visual stimuli for use in ASL Results analysis.
- Start and stop data recording.
- Free full featured 14-day trial.

Drag and Drop EEG and BIOPAC® Integration
Paradigm Elements for Ports lets you integrate your experiments with ANT,
BioSemi
®,
Neuroscan
®,
BrainVision
® and
BIOPAC
® data collection systems. Using simple drag-and-drop
commands you'll be able to:
- Send event and response triggers to the device will millisecond accuracy.
- Send multiple triggers at different time points during a stimulus such as a movie or sound.
- Send triggers to multiple devices simultaneously enabling "multi-modal" data collection.
- Send triggers as part of a Python script using Paradigm's integrated Python scripting.
- Use a Parallel Port and/or a DIO-24 Port connection.
- Free full featured 14-day trial.
